| Paul Kelly came home to Melbourne on his Stolen Apples Tour and sold out Hamer Hall. He gave everyone in the audience reason to believe that not only is he Australia’s greatest songwriter but also one of our country’s greatest performers. Paul’s five-piece band The Boon Companions, nephew Dan Kelly, Ash Naylor, Cameron Bruce, Peter Luscombe and Bill McDonald may be incapable of playing a dud gig, but they were taken through their paces on Friday night. Beginning with the amazing collection of songs from his ‘Stolen Apples’ CD, Paul then treated the crowd to favourites such as ‘All the Dumb Things, Blush, Deeper Water and Love Never Runs On Time’. If you were in the audience at Hamer Hall, you’ll know that Paul and The Boon Companions were electric! It was a special night, one of those wonderful performances that are rarely repeated.
